bar ideas - Claridges!

From LBL:

"Harriet should try the bar at Claridges. Yes, it's expensive, but
the waiters are the best in London, the free bar snacks are to
die for and it must be the classiest bar in London. Oh, and the
drinks are pretty good too...

For a truly roasting first date there is a bar on Great
Titchfield Street called Firevault. Don't be put off by the upper
floor (a classy shop for fireplaces) - head down the stairs and
towards the back. There is a peaceful, very cool den of tables,
intimate lighting and fabulous service. Would recommend it for a
different/classy date.

..
Waterstones Piccadilly top-floor bar. Great views, decent
cocktails (if a little pricey), makes you look impressively
literate/London-knowledgeable that you know of this hidden bar,
and is genuinely a nice place to go. Can be a bit smokey, and
occasionally crowded, but is a good place to meet up.

Another fab date place is Vertigo 42. Up on the top floor of
Tower 42 (old Nat West tower) in the City, this place simply
oozes class. Panoramic views of London, wonderful cocktails and
sophisticated snacks - what more could you ask for? Reservations
are a must, and being at the top of an office block there is
tight security. More of a pre-dinner drink spot, could have
dinner at Rhodes Twenty Four afterwards.
